It is located south of Gela field, about {{convert|50|km}} offshore at the Cardon IV block in water depths about {{convert|60|m}}.[1] It covers area about {{convert|33|km2}}.[2] The field was discovered in 1976. Exploration activities were carried out in 2009. The Pearl-1 well, drilled by the jack-up rig Ensco 68, encountered a {{convert|60|m|abbr=on}} hydrocarbon column with a production capacity of about {{convert|600000|m3/d}} of gas and {{convert|500|oilbbl/d}} of gas condensate. Perla-2 produced {{convert|1.4|e6m3/d}} of gas and {{convert|1500|oilbbl/d}} of condensate, Perla-3produced {{convert|1.9|e6m3/d}} of gas and {{convert|1350|oilbbl/d}} of condensate, and Perla-4 produced {{convert|17|e6cuft/d}} of gas and {{convert|560|oilbbl/d}} of condensate.[2] In total, it is expected to hold more than {{convert|16.3|e12cuft|abbr=off}} of natural gas.[4] At the phase I light offshore platforms will be installed to utilise the wells already drilled. A pipeline will be installed to a central processing facility located onshore. The phase I is expected to cost of US$1.4 billion.[1] The field will be developed by consortium of Repsol YPF (32.5%), Eni (32.5%), and PDVSA (35%).[1][3] The front-end loading will be carried out by Foster Wheeler. The field is expected to come onstream by the first half of 2013.[2] The development contract will be in force until 2036.[3] References1. ^1 2 {{cite news | url = http://www.upstreamonline.com/live/article295728.ece | title = Eni, Repsol get Perla go-ahead | first = Eoin | last = O'Cinneide | newspaper = Upstream Online | publisher = NHST Media Group | date = 2011-12-24 | accessdate = 2011-12-26 | id = {{subscription required}}}} {{Portal|Venezuela|Energy}}{{coord missing|Venezuela}}2. ^1 2 {{cite web | url = http://www.offshore-technology.com/projects/perla-field/ | title =Perla Field, Gulf of Venezuela, Venezuela | work = Offshore Technology | publisher = Net Resources International | accessdate = 2011-12-26}} 3. ^1 2 {{cite news | url = http://www.platts.com/RSSFeedDetailedNews/RSSFeed/NaturalGas/3857646 | title = Repsol says to start development of Venezuela Perla gas field | first = Richard | last = Rubin | publisher = Platts | date = 2011-12-23 | accessdate = 2011-12-26 | id = {{subscription required}}}} 1 : Natural gas fields in Venezuela |
