The station building—which still exists as a lawn and garden center[1]—is located on the north side of the track, on 1st Street. LaSalle/Peru was the original eastern terminus of the Rock Island Line, as it first traveled from Rock Island, Illinois to connect with the Illinois and Michigan Canal.[2] "The Rock" was eventually liquidated, and now the track is operated by CSX, with the Iowa Interstate Railway getting some service via trackage rights.[3] References1. ^{{cite book|title=A River Through Illinois|first1=Daniel|last1=Overturf|first2=Gary|last2=Marx|first3=Bill|last3=Kurtis|page=196|quote=The old Rock Island Line railroad station is now a lawn and garden center.|year=2007}} 2. ^{{Schafer-Classic-Railroads-3|page=69}} 3. ^Illinois Valley Commuter Rail Feasibility Study {{webarchive|url=https://archive.is/20120729182928/http://www.cityofottawa.org/rail/exist.htm |date=2012-07-29 }}.
