His younger brother Barrie also played professionally for Colchester. CareerBorn in Harlow, Aitchison signed for Colchester United in August 1950 and signed a professional contract a year later, making his professional debut whilst still on National Service. In the game against Gillingham on Christmas Day in 1951, Aitchison scored 17 minutes into his debut as the U's went on to record a 2–1 victory.[2][3] Ironically, Aitchison's final professional goal came the following day in the reverse fixture against Gillingham as Colchester recorded a 1–0 victory at Layer Road.[4] Alongside his two goals, Aitchison turned out for Colchester 18 times,[5] recording nine appearances during the 1951–52 season and three appearances in 1952–53. He failed to make an appearance during 1953–54 but returned making six appearances in 1954–55 before leaving for Sittingbourne. He would go on to represent Haverhill Rovers, Clacton Town, Stowmarket Town, Tiptree United and Brightlingsea United.[2] Later lifeAitchison remained in the Colchester area following his retirement from the game, where he worked for BT until his retirement in September 1991.[2] References1. ^1 2 {{cite web |title=Colchester United – Player profile |url=http://www.coludata.co.uk/player.asp?pid=181 |publisher=Coludata.co.uk |accessdate=15 March 2013}} {{DEFAULTSORT:Aitchison, Peter}}2. ^1 2 3 {{cite book |last1=Whitehead |first1=Jeff |last2=Drury |first2=Kevin |title=The Who's Who of Colchester United: The Layer Road Years |year=2008 |publisher=Breedon Books |location=Derby |isbn=978-1-85983-629-3 |page=10}} 3. ^{{cite web |title=Colchester United – Match details – Gillingham 1–2 Colchester Utd |url=http://coludata.co.uk/matchdetails.asp?mid=423 |publisher=Coludata.co.uk |accessdate=14 July 2013}} 4. ^{{cite web |title=Colchester United – Match details – Colchester Utd 1–0 Gillingham |url=http://coludata.co.uk/matchdetails.asp?mid=424 |publisher=Coludata.co.uk |accessdate=14 July 2013}} 5. ^{{cite web |title=COLCHESTER UNITED:1950/51–1989/90 & 1992/93–2011/12 |url=http://www.neilbrown.newcastlefans.com/colchester/colchester.html |publisher=Post War English & Scottish Football League A – Z Player's Database |accessdate=15 March 2013 }} 15 : 1931 births|Living people|People from Harlow|English footballers|Association football wingers|Colchester United F.C. players|Sittingbourne F.C. players|Haverhill Rovers F.C. players|F.C.
