The Phoenix Industries Sport is an American powered parachute that was designed and produced by Phoenix Industries of Southampton, New Jersey. Now out of production, when it was available the aircraft was supplied as in the form of plans for amateur construction. In addition to the plans the company also supplied materials kits and canopies.[1][2]

Design and development

The Sport was designed to comply with the US FAR 103 Ultralight Vehicles rules, including the category's maximum empty weight of {{convert|254|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}}. The aircraft has a standard empty weight of {{convert|225|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}}. It features a parachute-style wing that was available in a range of sizes from {{convert|370|to|500|sqft|m2|abbr=on}}, single-place accommodation and tricycle landing gear. The aircraft can accept engines of {{convert|40|to|65|hp|kW|0|abbr=on}} and the recommended engine is the twin-cylinder {{convert|40|hp|kW|0|abbr=on}} Zenoah G-50 engine, which is installed in pusher configuration.[1][2]

The Sport carriage is built from metal tubing. In flight steering is accomplished via foot levers that actuate the canopy brakes, creating roll and yaw.[1][2]

The standard day, sea level, no wind, take off with a {{convert|40|hp|kW|0|abbr=on}} engine is {{convert|150|ft|m|0|abbr=on}} and the landing roll is {{convert|100|ft|m|0|abbr=on}}.[1][2]

The manufacturer estimated the construction time from the plans as 150 hours.[2]
