In the folk-literature surrounding psychedelic production, DMT, 5-MeO-DMT, and LSD have been reported to exhibit piezoluminescence. As specifically noted in the book Acid Dreams, it is stated that Augustus Owsley Stansley III, one of the most prolific producers of LSD in the 1960s, observed piezoluminescence in the compound's purest form,[4] which observation is confirmed by Alexander Shulgin: "A totally pure salt, when dry and when shaken in the dark, will emit small flashes of white light."[5] References1. ^{{cite journal |last=Atari |first=N.A. |date=June 1982 |title=Piezoluminescence phenomenon |url=https://doi.org/10.1016/0375-9601(82)90060-3 |journal=Physics Letters A |volume=90 |issue=1–2 |pages=93–96 |doi=10.1016/0375-9601(82)90060-3|bibcode=1982PhLA...90...93A }} 2. ^On Piezoluminescence in Irradiated Alkali Halides, by A.
