The school enables children with language-based academic and social challenges to thrive through small class sizes, differentiated instruction, and relationship-building. The Pinnacle School is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and approved by the Connecticut Department of Education (CSDE) as a private special education school. Students are both privately and district placed and come from Connecticut and New York. The school was founded in 2011and started with a focus on students with high-functioning autism, or Asperger's syndrome. Today the student profile encompasses children with a variety of language-based learning differences such as dyslexia, ADHD, high-functioning autism, and nonverbal learning disabilities, and ADHD.[2] It was founded by the Greenwich Education Group, which also runs The Spire School, Links Academy, and The Collaborative Center (TCC).
