Measuring approximately {{convert|1|acre}} in area,[1] the site lies near the intersection of MacArthur Boulevard and Foxhall Road,[2]{{rp|4}} along the Potomac River.[3] It is one of many archaeological sites located in the present-day Potomac Palisades;[2]{{rp|4}} a 1984 field survey revealed evidence that supported earlier ideas of the archaeological richness of the northern bank of the Potomac in this area.[2]{{rp|8}} Among the artifacts found during excavation at the site is a triangle-shaped projectile point.[3] The primary use of the site appears to have been during the Late Archaic period, during which time it was heavily used as a lithic workshop.[2]{{rp|4}} In recognition of its archaeological value, the Potomac Palisades Site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.[1] References1. ^1 2 {{NRISref|version=2010a}} {{National Register of Historic Places}}2. ^1 2 3 Artemel, Janice G., et al.
