The area is part of the historical region of Lower Carniola. The municipality is now included in the Lower Sava Statistical Region; until January 2014 it was part of the Savinja Statistical Region.[4] It includes the hamlets of Spodnje Počakovo, Zgornje Počakovo, Češence ({{lang-de|Kerschdorf}}[2]), Sveti Janez, and Jatne Kote.[5] The local church is dedicated to Saint John the Evangelist and belongs to the Parish of Svibno.
