The awards are presented by CAPIF. The awards are named after Carlos Gardel, one of the earliest wellknown musicians in Argentina. The most important prize is Gardel de Oro, which was since 2003, given to a person who wins the Album of the Year. The awards are the Argentine equivalent of American Grammy Awards and British BRIT Awards. See also
