It is found in Peru[1] and Ecuador.[2] The wingspan is about 34 mm. Adults are dark red, the forewings with traces of an antemedial line preceded by a yellowish mark in the cell. There is a distinct black-edged orange quadrate spot in the end of the cell, as well as a discoidal black lunule. The postmedial line has an orange spot on the outer side. The hindwings have a discoidal annulate spot and a curved fuscous postmedial line. Both wings have a terminal series of black points.[3] References1. ^{{cite web |last=Nuss |first=M. |display-authors=etal |date=2003–2017 |url=http://globiz.pyraloidea.org/Pages/Reports/TaxonReport.aspx |title=GlobIZ search |website=Global Information System on Pyraloidea |accessdate=June 18, 2018}} {{Taxonbar|from=Q20720925}}{{Spilomelinae-stub}}2. ^{{cite web |last=Savela |first=Markku |url=http://www.nic.funet.fi/pub/sci/bio/life/insecta/lepidoptera/ditrysia/pyraloidea/crambidae/pyraustinae/prenesta/#rubralis |title=Prenesta rubralis (Hampson, 1898) |website=Lepidoptera and Some Other Life Forms |accessdate=June 18, 2018}} 3. ^[https://archive.org/stream/proceedingsofgen98scie#page/648/mode/1up Proceedings of the Zoological Society of London. 1898: 648] 2 : Moths described in 1967|Spilomelinae |
