It is located in the southeast of the krai, and borders with Kalgansky District in the north, and with Krasnokamensky District in the south. The area of the district is {{convert|5100|km2|sp=us}}.[2] Its administrative center is the urban locality (an urban-type settlement) of Priargunsk.[3] Population: {{ru-census2010|21,831|;}} 26,959 (2002 Census);[5] {{su-census1989|29,120|.}} The population of Priargunsk accounts for 33.8% of the district's total population.
