Priscilla Coolidge (1941 – October 2, 2014)[1] was an American recording artist and sister of singer Rita Coolidge. Life and careerCoolidge was born in Lafayette, Tennessee. Between 1969 and 1979, she was married to Booker T. Jones, who produced Coolidge's first solo album, 1970's Gypsy Queen.[2] Then the pair collaborated as a duo on three albums: 1971's Booker T. & Priscilla; 1972's Home Grown; and 1973's Chronicles, which included the song "Time", written by her sister Rita, which was allegedly "borrowed" by drummer Jim Gordon (formerly of Eric Clapton's band Derek and the Dominos and Rita's former boyfriend) and became the famous instrumental piano coda at the end of "Layla"). Jones produced Priscilla's final solo album, Flying, in 1979; their marriage ended that year.[3] In 1981 Coolidge married TV journalist/broadcaster/reporter Ed Bradley.[4] Her marriage to Bradley ended in divorce, and she later married Michael Seibert. WalelaIn 1997, Coolidge was one of the founding members of Walela, a Native American music trio, that also included Coolidge's sister Rita, plus Priscilla's daughter Laura Satterfield. The trio released studio albums in 1997 (Walela) and 2000 (Unbearable Love), a live album and DVD (Live in Concert) in 2004 and a compilation album (The Best of Walela) in 2007.[5] Walela means hummingbird in Cherokee. Coolidge considered this group important not only in honoring her Cherokee ancestors, but also in bringing their culture to others.{{citation needed|date=October 2018}} DeathSeibert and Coolidge were found dead in their home in Thousand Oaks, California, United States, on October 2, 2014,[1] from what police called a murder–suicide allegedly perpetrated by Seibert.[6] References1. ^1 {{cite web|url=http://rateyourmusic.com/artist/priscilla_coolidge |title=Albums by Priscilla Coolidge: Discography, songs, biography, and listening guide |publisher=Rateyourmusic.com |date=2014-10-02 |accessdate=2015-06-12}} {{authority control}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Coolidge, Priscilla}}2. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.allmusic.com/album/gypsy-queen-mw0000928382 |title=Gypsy Queen - Priscilla Coolidge | Songs, Reviews, Credits, Awards |publisher=AllMusic |date= |accessdate=2015-06-12}} 3. ^{{cite web|author=Megan Diskin |url=http://www.vcstar.com/news/local-news/conejo-valley/murdersuicide-victim-was-sister-of-rita-coolidge_01636871 |title=Murder-suicide victim was sister of Rita Coolidge |publisher=Vcstar.com |date=2014-10-04 |accessdate=2015-06-12}} 4. ^{{cite news|title=Ed Bradley, TV Correspondent, Dies at 65|author=Steinberg, Jacques|newspaper=The New York Times|date=November 10, 2006|url=https://www.nytimes.com/2006/11/10/arts/television/10bradley.html?pagewanted=all|accessdate=August 1, 2015}} 5. ^{{cite web|author=Steve Leggett |url=http://www.allmusic.com/album/best-of-walela-mw0000584794 |title=Best of Walela - Walela | Songs, Reviews, Credits, Awards |publisher=AllMusic |date=2007-08-14 |accessdate=2015-06-12}} 6. ^{{cite web |last=Whitnall |first=Becca |url=http://www.toacorn.com/news/2014-10-09/Community/Murdersuicide_shocks_Sunset_Hills_neighborhood.html |title=Murder-suicide shocks Sunset Hills neighborhood |publisher=Toacorn.com |date= |accessdate=2015-06-12 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20150603052417/http://www.toacorn.com/news/2014-10-09/Community/Murdersuicide_shocks_Sunset_Hills_neighborhood.html |archivedate=2015-06-03 |df= }} 12 : 1941 births|2014 deaths|American people of Cherokee descent|People from Lafayette, Tennessee|Singers from Tennessee|20th-century American singers|21st-century American singers|American female singers|Deaths by firearm in California|2014 murders in the United States|20th-century women singers|21st-century women singers |
