It lies in the La Paz Department, Los Andes Province, Laja Municipality. Qala P'axrani is situated south-west of Pukara (Pucara), north-west of the mountain Kunkani. The river Ch'amaka Jawira ("dark river", Chamaca Jahuira) originates near the mountain.
