She is the daughter of Dr. Sangeeta Shankar[1] and granddaughter of the renowned Padmabhushan Dr. N. Rajam.[2] Early lifeShe began her training at the age of 4 and gave her first public performance as an 11-year-old.[3] She plays violin in the Gayaki Ang. EducationRagini Shankar has excelled in her academics being a top ranker in Mechanical Engineering and also holds a Masters’ in Music.[4] Performing careerShe has performed in various prestigious festivals like the Europalia,[5]MERU,[6][7]Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Festival,[8][9][10]Dover Lane Music Conference,[11][12]Saptak Festival of Music,[13][14][15][16]MilapFest,[17]Yaksha (festival),[18] Aarohi for Pancham Nishad,[19] Jaya Smriti organised by Hema Malini,[20] Temple of Fine Arts,[21] The Association of Performing Arts of India,[22] T. She is a faculty at Whistling Woods International - School of Music, a premier film school in Mumbai since its inception.[39] She is a part of renowned Bollywood lyricist Irshad Kamil’s ‘The Ink Band’, a series of beautiful poetry interwoven with melodious music.[40] [41] She is also a part of an Indo-french musical project called ‘Sangata’, formed by noted French composer Thierry Pecou.[42] She has also appeared in an article in France’s leading newspaper ‘Le Monde’.[43] Her recent collaborations include ‘inStrings’, an innovative fusion band which gives a grand new majestic sound to popular Indian tunes.[44] She has appeared on the platform of Tedx for her talk on Indian music.[45] She is a recipient of the Cultural Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Ragini has been highly applauded by music enthusiasts for being one of the most promising faces of Indian Classical music. She currently resides in Mumbai.
