Born in a rural area of Goiás on 1 August 1938, he moved to São Paulo at the age of 23 where he worked as a gardener and a book seller. In the late 1970s, early 1980s, nearly at the end of the military dictatorship of Brazil, he became homeless, and this lasted for nearly 35 years. During this period he wrote several poems and short stories, but they remained unknown until they were discovered by Shalla Monteiro in April 2011, and through Facebook Stories in the early 2014.[1][2][3] References1. ^{{cite journal|title=How A Woman's Kindness And Facebook Helped A Homeless Poet Find His Family and a New Start|date=24 February 2014|journal=The Huffington Post|url=http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/02/24/raimundo-arruda-sobrinho_n_4848317.html}} 2. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.facebookstories.com/stories/53734/the-conditioned|title=The Conditioned|date=4 February 2014|publisher=Facebook Stories}} 3. ^{{cite news|title=The Conditioned: A Touching Story|author=Regenesis|date=7 February 2014|publisher=Bubblews.com|url=http://www.bubblews.com/news/2271922-the-conditioned-a-touching-story}} External links{{refbegin}}
