He is best known for his coffee-table book on actress Hema Malini, Hema Malini Diva Unveiled from 2005. He has been a journalist for Screen (now Hotstar), The Asian Age, Stardust and the Mumbai Mirror, and is the former Vice-President of Pritish Nandy Communications.[1][2][3][4][5] After working with Stardust, now he is writing his first fiction for Leadstart Publishing. In 2016 he was working as producer with Rajshree Ojha for the TV series Bin Kuch Kahe.[6][7] He released the short story collection Long Island Iced Tea, a collection of eight short stories. Published by Leadstart Publishing this 154 pages book is his first foray into fiction.[8][9][10] BiographyRam Kamal Mukherjee born in North Kolkata. He developed an interest in actress Hema Malini after watching her films.[11] When his father Jaydeb Mukherjee realized that he had an interest in writing, he encouraged Ram to write a 'letter to the editor' on his favourite topic (Hema Malini) to Screen (now Hotstar) under the editorship of Udaya Tara Nayar. The letter, and a subsequent one, was published in the newspaper and led to the start of a career as a freelance journalist in 1995. Mukherjee graduated in Media and Film Studies at the University of Calcutta. After the period working for Screen, he was appointed as the sub editor for The Asian Age in Kolkata in 2001. He was appointed as the official journalist for Kolkata Film Festival. In 2003, he moved to Mumbai, where he became a Senior Correspondent at Stardust magazine. Ram Kamal Mukherjee is best known for Hema Malini - Diva Unveiled, an unofficial biography which was published in 2005.[12][13][14][15] Mukherjee had met and interviewed Malini previously as reporter for Stardust and was asked by Nari Hira to write a book about her. He interviewed various people connected to Malini during his work on the book,[11] which received mixed reviews. Ram Kamal Mukherjee later joined the tabloid Mumbai Mirror as an Assistant Editor. He wrote a column called "Ram Katha. He worked as the Vice-President of Pritish Nandy Communications, an entertainment, news and media content corporation, and a maker of Indian movies, based in Mumbai. He has also contributed as a columnist to Mid-Day and several other publications. He worked with Rangita Pritish Nandy in PNC on various projects, he was involved in script doctoring, casting lead actors, media and marketing analysis. During this time, he freelanced for publications like Mid Day Ananda Bazar Patrika, Anandalok (ABP Group) and TV18 group. In Midday he contributed for HitList and Sunday Midday under the editorship of Sarita Tanwar and Alpana Lath respectively. Later he joined Stardust as Editor In Chief [16][17] Currently he is working on his untitled fiction for Leadstart Publishing. He is also mentoring students at Harkishan Mehta Institute of Media, Research and Analysis (HMIMRA) as Guest Faculty for Post Graduate students in Films and Media. Personal InformationRam Kamal Mukherjee completed his graduation with History from University of Calcutta. He completed his schooling from St Joseph's College in Calcutta, and later completed his senior schooling from Khalsa Model School. After graduation he completed a diploma course in communication from the British Council, later joined Media Studies Film and Television course in University of Calcutta.[18] He scored the highest in the University and enrolled himself for Masters in Journalism. Before joining The Asian Age, he contributed to Bengali newspapers like Aaj Kaal, Pratohik Sambad and Sambad Ekhon. Mukherjee's grandfather Kiron Chandra Mukherjee was a surgeon.
