Predominantly located in the Swiss canton of Schaffhausen, they culminate in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. The Randen are situated north of Schaffhausen and south of Blumberg. The highest peak is the Schlattersteig ({{convert|930|m|ft|0|abbr=on}}), which is part of the more prominent Hoher Randen ({{convert|909|m|abbr=on}}) in Germany. Other important summits are the Hage ({{convert|912|m|abbr=on}}), the Lange Rande ({{convert|900|m|ft|0|abbr=on}}), and the Schlossranden ({{convert|890|m|ft|0|abbr=on}}) with the Schleitheimer Randenturm ({{convert|896|m|abbr=on}}) in Switzerland.
