It is located in Rangamati.[2] It takes 51 students every year. It offers 5 years course on Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery which is Directed under Chittagong Medical University of Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. HistoryThe government of Bangladesh established Rangamati Medical College in 2014, along with new medical colleges at Jamalpur, Manikganj, Patuakhali, Tangail, and Sirajganj.[3] Instruction began in January 2015,[4][5] with 53 students, but operations were soon suspended until the end of March as a result of vocal opposition from local groups such as Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS).[1] The groups believe that students, staff, and faculty would come predominantly from outside the Chittagong Hill Tracts, and their settlement in Rangamati would change the character of the region.[6][7][8] CampusThe college is located in Rangamati, headquarters of Rangamati Hill District. It's temporary campus is within the premises of Rangamati General Hospital.[9] Organization and administrationThe college is affiliated with Chittagong University.[10] The students receive their MBBS degree under the University of Chittagong after completing 5th year course of study by passing the final professional MBBS examination. This college is directly governed by Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) – an affiliation of the Ministry of health. The professional examinations are held under the university and results are given thereby. Internal examinations are also taken on regular intervals namely items, card completions, terms end and regular assessments. AcademicsThe admission process of undergraduate MBBS course for all government medical colleges in Bangladesh is conducted centrally by the Director of Medical Education under DGHS under the Ministry of health. The test comprises a written MCQ exam, which is held simultaneously in all government medical colleges on the same day throughout the country. Candidates are selected for admission based on national merit and district, whether they are sons or daughters of freedom fighters, and to fill tribal quotas. For foreign students, admission is through the embassy of Bangladesh in their respective countries. The academic calendar for different years is maintained by respective departments. The admission test consists of the written MCQ exam. 1st Batch=> Batch Name: Spondon; Batch Motto: "স্বাধীনতার মাসে পেয়েছি, স্বাধীনতার আস্বাদন; আমরাই প্রথম, আমরাই সেরা, গর্বিত স্পন্দন।" Batch Students' Number: 48; Class Started : March, 2015; First Prof passed: August, 2016; Batch Monitors: Snehasis Chakraborty; Nazmus Saher Maher. 2nd Batch=> Batch Name: Xanthrons; Batch Motto: "All for one and one for all" Batch Students' Number: 52; Class Started : January, 2016; First Prof passed: August, 2017; Batch Monitors: Sree Kush Barua Arnob; Tania Akter. 3rd Batch=> Batch Name: "ধ্রুবক" (Dhrubok; meaning : Constant) ; Batch Motto: "বর্ণিল সময়গুলোকে ঘিরে চিরন্তন এক ভালোবাসা, ধ্রুবক"; Batch Students' Number: 49; Class Started: 28 January 2017; Batch Monitors: Tonmoy Chowdhury; Sumaya Binte Amin; Co-Monitors: Arpon Tripura; Anusha Tanchangya. 4th Batch=> Batch Name: Unknown; Batch Motto: Unknown ; Batch Students : 52; Class Started : 27 January 2018; Batch Monitors: Kazi Sadia Nowshin Ex-Shreya Chakma; See also
