释义 |
The Sybil Brand Institute was an American county jail in Los Angeles County, California, for female inmates. It is named for Sybil Brand. The jail was completed in 1963 and at one time had over 2,000 inmates.[1] It was closed in 1997 because of its poor physical condition[1] as a result of damage suffered during the 1994 Northridge earthquake.[2] Since 1997, the former jail location has been used in movies and television shows such as 24, Miami, CSI, Legally Blonde, and Desperate Housewives.[1] References1. ^1 2 {{cite news|url=http://articles.latimes.com/2007/oct/16/local/me-sybil16|title=Crowding problems grow as jail sits vacant|work=The Los Angeles Times|first=Stuart|last=Pfeifer|date=October 16, 2007|accessdate=June 11, 2012}} {{California-struct-stub}}2. ^{{cite news|last1=McLellan|first1=Dennis|last2=Oliver|first2=Myrna|title=Sybil Brand, 104; Fought for Jailed Women|url=http://articles.latimes.com/2004/feb/19/local/me-brand19|work=The Los Angeles Times|date=February 19, 2004|page=B10}} 1 : Buildings and structures in Los Angeles County, California |
