He was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He played college football at Minnesota. Early yearsHageman was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. At a young age, Hageman's father died, and his mother spent time in prison dealing with drug and alcohol abuse. Hageman and his brother, Xavier, were found at the age of four and three, respectively, in the closet of a crack house, and spent subsequent years at various foster homes in the Minneapolis–Saint Paul area. He and his brother were adopted by lawyers Eric Hageman and Jill Coyle in 1998.[1] Hageman attended Washburn High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota where he played basketball and football. On the football field, he played tight end and as a senior he had 11 touchdown receptions. He was ranked by Rivals.com as the sixth best tight end recruit.[2] College careerHageman received scholarship offers to play football from Nebraska, Florida, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin, but opted to stay home and play for the University of Minnesota. Hageman moved to the defensive line as a freshman in 2009.[3] He was redshirted that year.
