It extends between 10°21' and 10°31'S and 76°41' and 76°50'W for about 20 km.[5] It lies a few kilometres southeast of Huayhuash mountain range. MountainsThe highest mountain in the range is Yarupac at {{convert|5685|m|ft|0}}.[6][7] Other mountains are listed below:[8][9] {{div col|colwidth=27em}}
LakesSome of the largest lakes of the range are Patarcocha, Tinquicocha and Huascacocha. GlaciersNotable glaciated areas in this range are: Leon Huaccanan-Azuljanka,[9] which is a plateau of 10 km. long and 2½ km. wide that rises eastward, to a steep cliff in its eastern margin;[7] a tiny ice plateau at the union of the Yarupac-Torre de Cristal ridges;[7] and finally mount Santa Rosa which has the most of the remaining glacier ice.[7] Permanent snow begins at about 5000m in the northern and central parts of the range.[7] Environmental issuesThis mountain range has a bad conservation status because of mining activity in the area and the ongoing glacier retreat due to climate change.[10] Explosions and pollution of lakes are important disturbances to the local ecosystem caused by mining activity.[7] There are also abandoned facilities of other mining companies in the area.[7] References1. ^{{Cite book|url=|title=The Andes: A Guide for Climbers|last=Biggar|first=John|date=2005|publisher=Andes|year=|isbn=9780953608720|location=|pages=101-102|language=en}} {{DEFAULTSORT:Raura mountain range}}{{Pasco-geo-stub}}2. ^{{Cite web|url=http://escale.minedu.gob.pe/documents/10156/1367939/ugel_14_oyon.pdf|title=Mapa UGEL Oyon|last=|first=|date=2010|website=Mapas DRE y UGEL|publisher=ESCALE - Ministerio de Educación - Perú|access-date=2016-06-18|quote=Cordillera Raura}} 3. ^{{Cite book|title=Peru 1:100 000, Yanahuanca (21-j)|last=|first=|publisher=IGN (Instituto Geográfico Nacional - Perú)|year=|isbn=|location=|pages=}} 4. ^babylon.com: rawra - gravel 5. ^1 usgs.gov USGS, Peruvian Cordilleras 6. ^1 {{Cite book|title=Peru 1:100 000, Yanahuanca (21-j)|last=|first=|publisher=IGN (Instituto Geográfico Nacional - Perú)|year=|isbn=|location=|pages=|quote=}} 7. ^1 2 3 4 5 6 7 {{Cite journal|last=Ricker|first=John|date=1974|title=Cordillera Raura|url=http://aac-publications.s3.amazonaws.com/documents/aaj/1974/PDF/AAJ_1974_19_1_107.pdf|journal=The American Alpine Journal|volume=19|issue=1|doi=|pmid=|access-date=2016-05-27|quote=}} 8. ^escale.minedu.gob.pe - UGEL map of the Daniel Alcides Carrión Province (Pasco Region) 9. ^1 Jill Neate, Mountaineering in the Andes, RGS-IBG Expedition Advisory Centre, 2nd edition, May 1994 10. ^{{Cite web|url=http://ficha.sigmincetur.mincetur.gob.pe/index.aspx?cod_Ficha=4906|title=Cordillera Raura|last=|first=|date=|website=Inventario Turistico del Perú|archive-url=|archive-date=|dead-url=|access-date=2016-07-12}} 7 : Mountain ranges of Peru|Mountain ranges of Huánuco Region|Mountain ranges of Lima Region|Mountain ranges of Pasco Region|Mountains of Huánuco Region|Mountains of Lima Region|Mountains of Pasco Region |
