He was named to that position prior to the 2011 season.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7] Christiansen played four seasons at Menlo before serving as an assistant coach for three seasons and the 2002 season as head coach. Between stints with the Oaks, he was head coach of the Ferndale High School team for the 2001 season. He then spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Kansas, in which the Jayhawks set several program offensive records and led the Big 12 in batting in the 2004 season. He then served as head coach of the South Dakota State during its transition from Division II to Division I from 2005 to 2008. Next, Christiansen served as an assistant at Sacramento State for the 2009 and 2010 seasons before being elevated to the top job.[1][2] Head coaching record{{CBB yearly record start|type=coach}}{{CBB Yearly Record Subhead|name=Menlo Oaks|conference=California Pacific Conference|startyear=2002|endyear=single}}{{CBB yearly record entry| championship = | season = 2002 | name = Menlo | overall = 11–29 | conference = | confstanding = | postseason = }}{{CBB yearly record subtotal|name=Menlo|overall=11–29|confrecord=}}{{CBB Yearly Record Subhead|name=South Dakota State Jackrabbits|conference=Independent|startyear=2005|endyear=2007}}{{CBB yearly record entry | championship = | season = 2005 | name = South Dakota State | overall = 17–38 | conference = | confstanding = | postseason = }}{{CBB yearly record entry | championship = | season = 2006 | name = South Dakota State | overall = 23–29 | conference = | confstanding = | postseason = }}{{CBB yearly record entry | championship = | season = 2007 | name = South Dakota State | overall = 34–19 | conference = | confstanding = | postseason = }}{{CBB Yearly Record Subhead|name=South Dakota State Jackrabbits|conference=The Summit League|startyear=2008|endyear=single}}{{CBB yearly record entry | championship = | season = 2008 | name = South Dakota State | overall = 22–27 | conference = 9–11 | confstanding = 5th (8) | postseason = }}{{CBB yearly record subtotal|name=South Dakota State|overall=96–113|confrecord=9-11}}{{CBB Yearly Record Subhead|name=Sacramento State Hornets|conference=Western Athletic Conference|startyear=2011|endyear=}}{{CBB yearly record entry | championship = | season = 2011 | name = Sacramento State | overall = 19–39 | conference = 6–18 | confstanding = 7th (7) | postseason = }}{{CBB yearly record entry | championship = conference | season = 2012 | name = Sacramento State | overall = 31–26 | conference = 11–7 | confstanding = T-1st (7) | postseason = WAC Tournament{{efn|The top six finishers of the WAC's seven teams qualified for the tournament in 2012.}} }}{{CBB yearly record entry | championship = | season = 2013 | name = Sacramento State | overall = 35–24 | conference = 14–13 | confstanding = 5th (10) | postseason = WAC Tournament{{efn|The top eight finishers of the WAC's ten teams qualified for the tournament in 2013.}} }}{{CBB yearly record entry | championship = confboth | season = 2014 | name = Sacramento State | overall = 40–24 | conference = 21–6 | confstanding = 1st (10) | postseason = NCAA Regional }}{{CBB yearly record entry | championship = | season = 2015 | name = Sacramento State | overall = 33–27 | conference = 16–11 | confstanding = 5th (10) | postseason = WAC Tournament }}{{CBB yearly record entry | championship = | season = 2016 | name = Sacramento State | overall = 30–28 | conference = 16–11 | confstanding = 4th (10) | postseason = WAC Tournament }}{{CBB yearly record entry | championship = conference tournament | season = 2017 | name = Sacramento State | overall = 32–29 | conference = 12–12 | confstanding = 4th (10) | postseason = NCAA Regional }}{{CBB yearly record entry | championship = | season = 2018 | name = Sacramento State | overall = 35–25 | conference = 17–7 | confstanding = T-2nd | postseason = WAC Tournament }}{{CBB yearly record entry | championship = | season = 2019 | name = Sacramento State | overall = 0–0 | conference = 0–0 | confstanding = | postseason = }}{{CBB yearly record subtotal|name=Sacramento State|overall=255–222|confrecord=113–85}}{{CBB yearly record end|overall=351–364}}{{notelist}} See also
