One of his first jobs was to oversee the transition of managers from Charlie Paynter to Ted Fenton. Pratt moved Fenton into The Boleyn Ground several months before the anticipated end of Paynter's managership, to prepare him for the job. It was with Pratt's approval that Fenton, with Wally St Pier, set-up the youth teams and training methods which led to The Academy of Football and the establishment of training facilities at Chadwell Heath.[3][4] In 1961 Pratt was responsible for the removal of Fenton and the appointment of Ron Greenwood.[5] He retired from the chairmanship in May 1979, aged 74, after 29 years in the post becoming club president and handing over to Len Cearns.[6][7][1][8] He died 27 March 1984.[9] References1. ^1 2 {{cite web|title=Year by Year|url=http://www.whufc.com/articles/20030606/year-by-year_2236884_1135022|publisher=www.whufc.com|accessdate=3 October 2012}} 2. ^{{cite web|title=Harry Redknapp: all Premier League managers will eventually be foreign|url=https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/tottenham-hotspur/7393007/Harry-Redknapp-all-Premier-League-managers-will-eventually-be-foreign.html|publisher=www.telegraph.co.uk|accessdate=3 October 2012}} 3. ^{{cite book|last=Northcutt|first=John|title=West Ham United - A complete Record|year=1993|publisher=Breedon Books|location=Derby|isbn=1 873626 44 4|pages=46}} 4. ^{{cite web|title=Malcolm Allison 1927 - 2010|url=http://www.whufc.com/articles/20101015/malcolm-allison-1927-2010_2236884_2185790|publisher=www.whufc.com|accessdate=3 October 2012|deadurl=yes|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20101025141806/http://www.whufc.com/articles/20101015/malcolm-allison-1927-2010_2236884_2185790|archivedate=25 October 2010|df=}} 5. ^{{cite book|last=Blows|first=Kirk|title=The essential history of West Ham United|year=2000|publisher=Headline Book Publishing|location=Swindon|isbn=0 7472 7036 8|pages=100}} 6. ^{{cite web|title=West Ham United|url=http://www.cearnsbooks.co.uk/page10.html|publisher=www.cearnsbooks.co.uk|accessdate=3 October 2012}} 7. ^{{cite book|last=Blows|first=Kirk|title=The essential history of West Ham United|year=2000|publisher=Headline Book Publishing|location=Swindon|isbn=0 7472 7036 8|pages=155}} 8. ^{{cite news|last=Atwal|first=Kay|title=WW1 memoir gives window on history|url=http://www.newhamrecorder.co.uk/news/ww1_memoir_gives_window_on_history_1_930457|accessdate=4 October 2012|newspaper=www.newhamrecorder.co.uk|date=27 June 2011}} 9. ^West Ham handbook 1996-97 p137 External links
