| virus_group = vi | name = Reticuloendotheliosis virus | familia = Retroviridae | subfamilia = Orthoretrovirinae | genus = Gammaretrovirus | species = Reticuloendotheliosis virus }} Reticuloendotheliosis (RE) designates a group of pathologic syndromes caused by the reticuloendotheliosis virus (REV) group of avian retroviruses. The disease syndromes associated with REV include 1) a runting disease syndrome, 2) chronic neoplasia of lymphoid and other tissues, and 3) acute reticulum cell neoplasia.[1] Scientific SignificanceReticuloendotheliosis virus represents a third distinct etiological group of avian viral neoplasms, after Marek's disease and avian leukosis virus. The various syndromes caused by REV resemble both Marek's and avian leukosis. ResourcesThe Avian Diagnostic and Oncology Laboratory, in East Lansing, MI is the primary laboratory for research in REV and other tumor viruses.[2] The American Association of Avian Pathologists maintains a fact sheet on viral tumor diseases.[3] References1. ^{{cite book | date=2013 | edition=13th | first1=David E. | last1=Swayne | first2=John R. | last2=Glisson | isbn=0470958995 | title=Diseases of poultry | publisher=John Wiley & Sons | location=Ames, Iowa}} {{Taxonbar|from=Q18394149}}2. ^{{cite web|title=Avian Diagnostic and Oncology Laboratory|url=http://www.ars.usda.gov/aboutus/50th/histories-photos/MidWest/lansing-MI.htm}} 3. ^{{cite web|title=Frequently Asked Questions on Viral Tumor Diseases - Compiled by the AAAP Tumor Virus Committee|url=http://www.aaap.info/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=290:frequently-asked-questions-on-viral-tumor-diseases&catid=19:committee}} 1 : Viral diseases |
