It is native to much of eastern North America, and is often found in moist, often acidic soils in open areas.[2] This species is a perennial herb that is easily identified by its distinctly angled stems. It produces purple-pink flowers in the summer that use buzz pollination for reproduction.[3] References1. ^{{PLANTS|id=RHVI|taxon=Rhexia virginica|accessdate=20 October 2015}} {{Taxonbar|from=Q16758088}}{{Melastomataceae-stub}}2. ^http://www.illinoiswildflowers.info/wetland/plants/meadow_beauty.htm Rhexia virginica at Illinois Wildflowers 3. ^http://www.amjbot.org/content/86/4/502.full The pollination ecology of buzz-pollinated Rhexia virginica (Melastomataceae) Am.
