Jordan, 1877[2] }} The riffle minnow (Phenacobius catostomus) is a North American species of cyprinid freshwater fish. It inhabits riffles in warm streams of medium to large size, in the states of Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee, above the Fall Line.[3] Long and slender, it averages about {{convert|3.5|in|cm|}} in length.[3] The riffle minnow is olive on top, and white below.[3] This fish is not to be confused with Alburnoides bipunctatus, which is also known as riffle minnow, but lives in Europe and Asia.[4] References1. ^{{IUCN | id = 202343| taxon = Phenacobius catostomus| assessor = NatureServe| assessor-link = NatureServe| assessment_year = 2016| version = 2016.3| accessdate = 14 April 2017}} {{Taxonbar|from=Q1104866}}{{Leuciscinae-stub}}2. ^[https://web.archive.org/web/20130111034246/http://www.bio.utk.edu/hulseylab/Fishlist.html University of Tennessee, Division of Biology], accessed via Archive.org. 3. ^1 2 Goldstein, Robert et al.[https://books.google.com/books?id=UB0vJ7ssqDUC&pg=PA134&lpg=PA134 American Aquarium Fishes], p. 134 (Texas A&M University Press, 2000). 4. ^{{citation| url = http://eunis.eea.europa.eu/species/9990/vernacular| title = Alburnoides bipunctatus| at= Vernacular names| publisher = European Environment Agency| work = eunis.eea.europa.eu}} 3 : Phenacobius|Freshwater fish of the United States|Fish described in 1877 |
