Avila was a talent of GMA Network's late afternoon entertainment show That's Entertainment. Avila is married to director, F.M. Reyes, she had a full term baby who they named Elia Jesu E. Reyes. (Pronounced YE-SU) The baby died three weeks after being born.[2] She also wrote an inspirational booklet called, 8 Ways to Comfort with Grace centering on her sad moments when she and her husband lost their three-week-old son and practical guidelines to comfort the grieving,[3] and Si Erik Tutpik at si Ana Taba a book for children who experienced bullying and The Invisible Wings series, a fable that inspire children to do good things for the love of God. Rita received a letter from Monsignor Peter B. Wells, an official of the Vatican Secretariat of State, expressing the Pope's gratitude for the books titled The Invisible Wings and 8 Ways to Comfort with Grace. The Invisible Wings 2 & 3 have been released together with her first novel Wanna Bet on Love. She has another set of books from Mindmaster Publishing touching social issues for kids. Avila started as a commercial model and later became a film actress, received praises and nominations for Tatlo Magkasalo, The Flor Contemplacion Story , The Sarah Balabagan Story and then TV work followed such as the ensemble cast of highly acclaimed actors in Familia Zaragoza, the ensemble cast of the afternoon drama Marinella and in 2008 in the highly acclaimed remake of Magdusa Ka in the afternoon soap adaptation. Later on she starred in more soap operas on the small screen. She has won a Best Actress from the Asian Television Awards and another Best Supporting Actress for local television shows.
