She was the elder sister of Juanita Quigley, who was also an actress, beginning in films at the age of three in 1934.[1] CareerA visit to the commissary of Universal Pictures in 1939 led to Quigley's film career. She was seen by producer Joe Pasternak as she ate lunch with her mother and her sister, and that contact resulted in a role for her in the Deanna Durbin film First Love.[3] Quigley made her film debut in 1940 in Susan and God, and appeared in more than a dozen other movies, including Five Little Peppers in Trouble, The Howards of Virginia, Whispering Footsteps and The Human Comedy. Personal lifeQuigley was born in Bell, California and was married to Arthur Goehner.[3] She left acting in the late 1940s to focus on raising her family.[4] DeathQuigley died in Arroyo Grande, California.[5] She is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Los Angeles.[6] References1. ^1 {{cite web|url=https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0703508/|title=Juanita Quigley|website=IMDb}} 2. ^{{cite web|url=https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1310&dat=19510818&id=qC0gAAAAIBAJ&sjid=CPEDAAAAIBAJ&pg=6755,5953260|title=Eugene Register-Guard - Google News Archive Search|website=news.google.com}} 3. ^{{cite news|title=Exciting Vacation|url=https://www.newspapers.com/clip/17280259/rita_quigley/|work=Lansing State Journal|date=August 3, 1939|location=Michigan, Lansing|page=18|via = Newspapers.com|accessdate = February 9, 2018}} {{Open access}} 4. ^{{cite book|last1=Lentz|first1=Harris M.|title=Obituaries in the Performing Arts, 2008: Film, Television, Radio, Theatre, Dance, Music, Cartoons and Pop Culture|date=2009|publisher=McFarland|isbn=9780786453849|page=357|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=BH7GCwAAQBAJ&pg=PA357&dq=%22Rita+Quigley%22&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjWnv6k4JfZAhVHZKwKHU-_CWQQ6AEIOjAD#v=onepage&q=%22Rita%20Quigley%22&f=false|accessdate=9 February 2018|language=en}} 5. ^1 2 {{cite book|last1=Wilson|first1=Scott|title=Resting Places: The Burial Sites of More Than 14,000 Famous Persons, 3d ed.
