He served as the Member of Parliament for Birmingham King's Norton for five years from 1924-29. He gained the seat from automotive engineer Sir Herbert Austin of the Conservative Party at the 1924 general election, with a small majority of 133 votes. Dennison lost his seat to Lionel Beaumont-Thomas; also a Conservative, at the 1929 general election by 491 votes.[1]

He previously stood at Walsall and Cleveland, albeit unsuccessfully.{{citation needed|date=April 2015}}
