{{Merge |Bob Brown (baseball, born 1876)|date=April 2018 }}Robert Paul Brown (born July 5, 1876, Scranton, Pennsylvania; d. June 17, 1962, Vancouver, British Columbia), commonly called "Bob", was a professional baseball player, manager, and team owner.^[1]

Brown's career started at Notre Dame in the 1890s. He went on to be a professional baseball player from 1900 until 1909, with teams in Oregon, Washington, and Montana. He was a member of the Spokane Indians when they won the 1908 Pacific Coast League championship.^[2]

After his playing days ended, Brown went on to be a "shrewd" promoter and owner. He owned the Vancouver Beavers (later the Capilanos) and built Athletic Park on land leased from the Canadian Pacific Railway. (The park opened 18 April 1913.) As a promoter, he organized the first night baseball game played in Canada.^[3]

Brown was the first person inducted into the British Columbia Baseball Hall of Fame.^[4]

The Vancouver Canadians mascot is named “Bob Brown Bear” in honour of Bob Brown.
