Robert Roper (1757–1838) was an English architect who practised from an office in Preston, Lancashire.[1] His works include at least two new country houses, Claughton Hall,{{sfn|Hartwell|Pevsner|2009|p=232}} and Leagram Hall,{{sfn|Hartwell|Pevsner|2009|p=213}} both of which have since been demolished. He designed at least two new churches, Holy Trinity, Hoghton, a Commissioners' church,{{sfn|Hartwell|Pevsner|2009|p=338}}{{sfn|Port|2006|p=327}} and St John the Evangelist, Clifton.{{sfn|Hartwell|Pevsner|2009|p=175}} He rebuilt the naves of the churches of St Michael, Kirkham,{{sfn|Hartwell|Pevsner|2009|p=355}}[2] and St John the Baptist, Broughton,{{sfn|Hartwell|Pevsner|2009|p=175}} and also added a façade to Thurnham Hall.{{sfn|Hartwell|Pevsner|2009|pp=668–669}}[3]See also- List of works by Robert Roper
