The station opened on 1 September 1904 and closed in April 1964[1] as a result of the Beeching Axe. Rodmarton Platform was the first Great Western station to use the name "platform".[1][2] The term originally came from Scottish railway stations was used by Great Western to describe stations smaller than fully-fledged stations but longer than halts, and ones that offered services such as ticket sales, mail transport and some light goods.[1] The wooden platform carried a "Pagoda" shelter for passenger use.[3] Rodmarton Platform was opened to serve the small village of Rodmarton, though the railway and station was sited some distance from the village.[4] Route{{Disused rail start}}{{rail line|previous={{stnlnk|Jackaments Bridge Halt}}Line and station closed|next={{stnlnk|Culkerton Halt}} Line and station closed|route=Great Western Railway Tetbury branch line|col={{GWR colour}} }}{{end}} References1. ^1 2 {{cite book|last=Herring|first=Peter|title=Yesterday's railways|year=2004|publisher=David & Charles|location=Newton Abbot|isbn=0715317334|pages=70|edition=2004}} {{Closed stations Gloucestershire}}{{coord|51.6703|-2.0839|type:railwaystation_region:GB|display=title}}2. ^{{cite web|last=Lloyd|first=David|title=Cirencester and Tetbury Branches|year=1981|url=http://homepage.ntlworld.com/davidlloyd/ciren.htm|publisher=me&im|accessdate=9 December 2011|deadurl=yes|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20110604194926/http://homepage.ntlworld.com/davidlloyd/ciren.htm|archivedate=4 June 2011|df=dmy-all}} 3. ^{{cite journal |last=Fenton |first=Mike |editor1-first=Michael |editor1-last=Blakemore |date=March 2019 |title=Kemble Station and its branches, Part 2: The Railbus Years |journal=Back Track |volume=33 |issue=3 |publisher=Pendragon Publishing |location=Easingwold |issn= |ref=harv }} 4. ^{{cite book|last=Atterbury|first=Paul|title=Branch line Britain : a nostalgic journey celebrating a golden age|year=2006|publisher=David & Charles|location=Newton Abbot|isbn=0715324160|pages=128}} 5 : Disused railway stations in Gloucestershire|Former Great Western Railway stations|Railway stations opened in 1904|Railway stations closed in 1964|Beeching closures in England |
