The men's single sculls competition at the 1936 Summer Olympics took place at Grünau Regatta Course, near Berlin, Germany. The event was held from October 15 until October 19.[1]

First rower in each heat advanced directly to semi-finals. The others must compete again in the repechage for remaining spots in the semi-finals.
