Fischer was born in Adelaide but recruited from Victorian club Murtoa. He represented the VFL at the 1937 Perth Carnival and again in 1939, for a total of five appearances.[2] Playing in the back pocket, Fischer was a member of Melbourne's 1939 premiership team.[3][4] He was also used as a ruckman and at centre-half forward during his career.[5] Fischer missed Melbourne's 1940 premiership win after injuring his ankle in the preliminary final and he was also absent from their 1941 premiership team, with injury.[6] He enlisted in the army in 1942 and didn't play again for Melbourne.[4][7][8] References{{Commons category}}1. ^{{cite web|url=http://australianfootball.com/players/player/Rowley%2BFischer/5622|title=Rowley Fischer - Player Bio|publisher=Australian Football|accessdate=11 December 2014}} {{1939 Melbourne premiership players}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Fischer, Rowley}}{{AFL-bio-1910s-stub}}2. ^{{cite web|url=http://demonwiki.org/tiki-index.php?page=Rowley+Fischer| title=Rowley Fischer| publisher=Demon Wiki}} 3. ^{{cite book|last=Lovett, Michael|title=AFL 2004 - The Official Statistical History Of The AFL| publisher=AFL Publishing|year=2004|isbn=0-9580300-5-7}} 4. ^1 AFL Tables: Rowley Fischer 5. ^{{cite book|last1=Holmesby|first1=Russell|last2=Main|first2=Jim|title=The Encyclopedia Of AFL Footballers| publisher=BAS Publishing|year=2007|isbn=9781920910785}} 6. ^The Argus,"Fine Tactics By Melbourne", 30 September 1940, p. 9 7. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.ww2roll.gov.au/Veteran.aspx?ServiceId=A&VeteranId=487040| title=World War Two Nominal Roll| publisher=Government of Australia}} 8. ^[https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/page/12685233 Taylor, Percy, "Melbourne are Proud of their Great War Record", The Australasian, (Saturday, 24 June 1944), p.23.] 6 : 1910 births|Australian rules footballers from Victoria (Australia)|Melbourne Football Club players|Murtoa Football Club players|Australian military personnel of World War II|1992 deaths |
