Like other dewberries, it is a species of flowering plant in the rose family, related to the blackberry. It is native to the United States and Mexico, primarily in the southern Great Plains with additional populations scattered in the eastern United States and in Nuevo León.[3] HabitatRubus aboriginum typically inhabits areas of rocky soil and partial shade, such as open woodlands and abandoned fields.[5]DescriptionRubus aboriginum is a bushy, viny bramble, up to {{convert|6|ft|m}} in height and breadth, but often smaller.
