It is located in the Cusco Region, Urubamba Province, Ollantaytambo District. Runtuqucha Q'asa lies southwest of Wayanay. The Pukamayu ("red river"), an intermittent stream which later is called Kiskamayu ("thorn river"), flows along its eastern slopes.
