Lane is a left-handed batsman who bowls right-arm medium pace. He was born in Hayes, Middlesex. Lane made his debut for Buckinghamshire in the 1995 Minor Counties Championship against Northumberland. Lane played Minor counties cricket for Buckinghamshire from 1995 to 2009, which included 45 Minor Counties Championship matches[1] and 25 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches.[2] In 1998, he made his List A debut against Surrey in the NatWest Trophy.
