At the 2008 Summer Olympics, Kuvatov competed this time for the men's 20 km race walk. During the competition, he set an early pace and was narrowly ahead in the 4 km lap after the athletes had left the stadium. Reaching the 8 km lap, Kuvatov's strong lead came to an end, as he was passed by several race walkers including Ivano Brugnetti of Italy, and Paquillo Fernández of Spain, both of whom won gold and silver in the previous Olympics.[3] Kuvatov entered the stadium and finished the entire run in forty-second place by ten seconds behind Serbia's Predrag Filipović, with a time of 1:28:25.[4] References1. ^{{cite sports-reference|Rustam Kovatov|https://www.sports-reference.com/olympics/athletes/ku/rustam-kuvatov-1.html|30 December 2012}} 2. ^{{cite news|last=Krishnan|first=Ram Murali|title=Asian Race Walking Championships|url=http://www.iaaf.org/news/news/asian-race-walking-championships|publisher=IAAF|date=20 March 2008|accessdate=30 December 2012}} 3. ^{{cite news|title=Olympics: Drugs tainted Borchin delivers maiden gold for Russia|url=http://www.us.terra.com/olympics2008/interna/0,,OI3098562-EI12185,00.html|publisher=Terra|date=15 August 2008|accessdate=30 December 2012}} 4. ^{{cite web|title=Men's 20km Race Walk |url=http://www.2008.nbcolympics.com/trackandfield/resultsandschedules/rsc=ATM092100/standings.html |publisher=NBC Olympics |accessdate=30 December 2012 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20140105155848/http://www.2008.nbcolympics.com/trackandfield/resultsandschedules/rsc%3DATM092100/standings.html |archivedate= 5 January 2014 |df= }} External links
