Two years later she won a gold medal in the same event at the 1988 Summer Olympics.[1][5]]Schulze was born in a family of track and field athletes. Her father Jens Schulze and mother Karin Rüger-Schulze competed in high jump, and the mother took part in the 1964 and 1968 Olympics.[1] Her brother Thomas specialized in shot put, but Sabina and another brother Michael went into swimming.[7] After marriage she changed her last name to Kessler.[1] References1. ^1 Schwimmen – DDR – Meisterschaften Damen – Teil 1. sport-komplett.de 2. ^1 2 3 4 [https://www.sports-reference.com/olympics/athletes/sc/sabina-schulze-1.html Sabina Schulze]. sports-reference.com 3. ^1 She competed in the qualifying round, but not in the final 4. ^1 Sabina Schulze. munzinger.de
