Early lifeSalique was born and brought up in Camden Town, London, England,[1][2] and is of Bangladeshi origin.[3][4] At the age of 10, he first realised his passion for music and was encouraged by his mother.[5][6][7][8] Salique did A-levels in maths, business studies and drama. In 2012, he graduated in civil engineering from Kingston University.[9] CareerSalique has listened to and been inspired by artists from the East and West.[3][4] At the age of 16, he first recorded in a studio with family friend Mumzy Stranger.[9] On 24 October 2013, his debut single "Let Me In" was released with independent UK record company Black Label Records. The single was produced by and features Mumzy Stranger, and has a sound with a fusion of R&B, Asian and Arabic harmonies with soulful Punjabi and Arabic influences.[5][6][10] The single was number one on the world iTunes music chart.[3][4] On 6 November 2013, the video was released.[11] In October 2013, Salique was interviewed by Nihal on BBC Asian Network.[9][12] In December 2013, he was interviewed by Gagan Grewal on BBC Asian Network.[13] On 22 February 2014, Salique's second single "Call on Me" was released, produced by Official Vee.[14] On 28 August 2014, his third single "Yallah Azizi (I Think I Love You)" was released, produced by Official Vee.[15] The song is a distinct fusion of R&B, Eastern and Arabic harmonies, including Urdu and Arabic lyrics.[3][4] The single immediately took the number one position on the iTunes world music chart and secured the number two spot on the BBC Asian Network Official Chart.[15] In August of the same year, Salique performed at the London Mela in Gunnersbury Park, London.[16] On 23 April 2016, Salique and his song "I Think I Love You (Yallah Azizi)" appeared in DramaSetterz official freestyle dance video alongside Puremovements (Iksy and Kash), Bengali Blitz and Faglaa Jay. Salique is currently working with producer 2Play (Wesley Johnson).[5][6] Salique's urban sound reflects his musical interest combining a British and Desi influence which pays homage to his cultural background.[5][6] In addition to his Urban and Desi side, Salique can sing in Arabic too.[1][2] Salique has also modelled for sports and fitness magazines.[9] DiscographySingles
