The four stars of the Terebellum

The Terebellum is positioned on the left side of Sagittarius in this 1825 drawing

The Terebellum, called τετράπλευρον (/tetrápleuron/) (meaning quadrilateral) by Ptolemy, is an asterism consisting of four 4th magnitude stars in the constellation Sagittarius:

  • Omega Sagittarii, also named Terebellum, at the northeast corner.
  • 59 Sagittarii or b Sagittarii, at the southeast corner.
  • 60 Sagittarii or A Sagittarii, at the northwest corner.
  • 62 Sagittarii or c Sagittarii, at the southwest corner.[1]

All four stars are within two degrees of each other. They are not gravitationally bound to each other and are at different distances from the Earth.
