The area of the district is {{convert|46672|km2|sp=us}}.[1] Its administrative center is the urban locality (a work settlement) of Ekimchan.[4] Population: {{ru-census2010|11,639|;}} 11,808 (2002 Census);[5] {{su-census1989|20,632|.}} The population of Ekimchan accounts for 10.4% of the district's total population.
