She became one of the first Armenian members of Turkey’s parliament in decades. Family lifeShe was born 1977 in Istanbul.[1] After completing her secondary education at the French high school Lycée Notre Dame de Sion Istanbul, she received a degree in law at Galatasaray University, and then took a master's degree from Istanbul Bilgi University. She began her professional career working in a law firm and serving as a lawyer for the minority foundations. She is married and has two children.[1] Politician careerSelina Özuzun Doğan was nominated as a candidate for the June 2015 general election by the Republican People's Party (CHP).[4][5] Upon agreeing with the proposal of minority groups to have a representative in the parliament, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, leader of CHP, put her name on the first place of the party's candidate list for Istanbul 2nd Constituency.[1] On June 7, 2015, she was elected into the parliament,[8] and became so the first Armenian members of the Grand National Assembly in decades alongside Garo Paylan (HDP) and Markar Esayan (AKP).[9][10] Apart from Hermine Kalustyan, who served six months in the Constituent Assembly of Turkey ({{lang-tr|Kurucu Meclis}}) after her appointment by the military junta following the 1960 Turkish coup d'état, Özuzun Doğan is the only female Armenian member of the parliament in the history of Turkish politics.[8] She was not re-nominated as a CHP candidate for the 2018 Elections.[1] References1. ^http://www.milliyet.com.tr/vekilsiz-35-il-sil-bastan-siyaset-2674307/ 2. ^1 {{cite news |url=https://www.reuters.com/article/2015/06/05/us-turkey-election-minorities-idUSKBN0OL1BN20150605 |newspaper=Reuters |title=Gay, Christian, Roma election candidates show Turkey's changing face |author=Yackley, Ayla Jean |date=2015-06-05 |accessdate=2015-06-29 }} 3. ^1 {{cite news |url=http://www.aniarc.am/2015/06/15/garo-paylan-selina-ozuzun-dogan-speak-about-being-armenian-turkey-politics/ |newspaper=ANI Armenian Research Center |title=Garo Paylan, Selina Özuzun Doğan Speak about Being Armenian, Turkey Politics |author=Janbazian, Rupen |date=2015-06-15 |accessdate=2015-06-29 }} 4. ^1 {{cite news |url=http://www.todayszaman.com/anasayfa_minority-groups-take-the-reins-in-opposition-candidate-lists_377448.html |newspaper=Today's Zaman |title=Minority groups take the reins in opposition candidate lists |author=Karataş, Zeynep |date=2015-04-08 |accessdate=2015-06-29 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20150706220609/http://www.todayszaman.com/anasayfa_minority-groups-take-the-reins-in-opposition-candidate-lists_377448.html |archivedate=2015-07-06 |df= }} 5. ^1 2 {{cite news |url=http://www.agos.com.tr/en/article/11853/selina-dogan-fight-against-hate-speech-is-my-priority |newspaper=Agos |title=Selina Doğan: Fight against hate speech is my priority |author=Kuyumciyan, Baruyr |date=2015-06-11 |accessdate=2015-06-29 }} 6. ^1 {{cite news |url=http://armenianweekly.com/2015/06/07/armenians-in-turkey-parliament/ |newspaper=The Armenian Weekly |title=Three Armenians Elected to Turkish Parliament |date=2015-06-07 |accessdate=2015-06-29 }} 7. ^1 2 3 {{cite news |url=http://news.am/eng/news/260722.html |newspaper=AM |title=Armenian woman becomes passing MP candidate in Turkey for first time |date=2015-04-07 |accessdate=2015-06-29 }}
