It has a mass of {{convert|5.4|tonne|abbr=on}} and has a design life of at least 15 years.[1] Together with SES-8, it is expected to reach 18 million homes.[2] SES-12 was successfully launched on a SpaceX Block 4 (B1040) Falcon 9 rocket from Kennedy Space Center Launchpad 40 on 4 June 2018 at 12:45 a.m. EDT (04:45 UTC),[3] and was successfully released into orbit approximately 33 minutes later.
