It is a standard train consisting of 23 coaches. The train covers a distance of {{cvt|602|km}} with an average speed of {{cvt|55|km/h}} EtymologyThe name of the train commemorates the bridge (sethu) built by Sree Rama. The King of Ramanathapuram Samasthanam (Princely State) in Tamil Nadu bore the title Sethupathy.{{Citation needed|date=June 2013}} RouteThe main cities covered by the route are Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Vriddhachalam, Ariyalur, Tiruchirapalli, Pudukkottai, Karaikkudi, Sivagangai, Manamadurai, Paramakudi ,Ramanathapuram.From Tiruchirappalli to Chennai Egmore, this train is hauled by RPM/WAP7 or ED/WAP4 Electric loco, and the section between Tiruchirappalli and Rameshwaram is hauled by GOC WDP3A/ ED WDM3D Diesel Loco.
