The area of the district is {{convert|3501.2|km2|sp=us}}.[3] Its administrative center is the town of Severo-Kurilsk.[1] Population: {{ru-census|p2010=2,536|p2002=2,592|p1989=5,420}} The population of Severo-Kurilsk accounts for 100% of the district's total population.[4] IslandsThe district includes the following islands from north to south:
