The Sidh is a caste in India. In various censuses, Sidh are found in Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana. The Sidh caste mainly resides in Bikaner Division of Rajasthan. The Sidh are known for their fire dance.[1]

History

The Sidh were founded by Sidh Guru Jasnath Ji Maharaj of Bikaner, who was born on Samwant 1539 AD, and Samadhi place in Katariasar[2] in Bikaner. His spiritual name was Jasnathji. Jasnath Ji was incarnated at "Dabla Pond" which is located 6 km north of village Katariasar. Jasnath ji gave his 36 rules to Ramu Saharan of Molaniya Village. Jasnath Samparday's holy book is Sabad Garanth, written by Pandit Suriya Shankar. The main literature spoken by Jasnath Ji which is now available are under heads of Simbhu-Dhada, Home Jap etc.

The Sidh caste has high social morals and live simple lives, most as farmers and field workers. A few work in government services. They have their own culture and tradition and mainly stem from Jat{{efn|"Glossary: Jat: title of north India's major non-elite 'peasant' caste."}} caste before 1539.

Clans

Clans include Manda, Jyani, Jhorar, Dudi, Godara, Kukana, Mahia, Tard, Hudda, Saharan, Shivran, and Bari, balihara etc.
