Sivanandeswarar Temple is a Hindu temple located at Thiruppandurai in the Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu, India. The temple is dedicated to Shiva.

Mythology

According to Hindu mythology, Shiva cursed Murugan with dumbness when the latter imprisoned the Creator God, Brahma. Murugan did penance at Thiruppandurai to get his speech back.

Significance

Praises of the temple have been sung by the Saivite saint Sambandar in the Thevaram. The temple is frequented by people with speech or stammering problems.

Shrines

There are shrines to Ganesha, Murugan and the four main Nayanmars.
