}}Skin Diamond (born Raylin Joy Christensen on February 18, 1987) is an American actress, singer-songwriter, model and former pornographic actress who now uses the professional name Raylin Joy.[4]

She has since retired from adult film to pursue other interests such as song writing and acting.[5]

Early life

Diamond was born in Ventura, California.[3] She moved to Scotland when she was three years old and lived there for about twenty years.[6] She was raised in Dunfermline where her parents moved as missionaries.[7] Her father is American actor Rodd Christensen, who is known in the UK for playing Spencer in children's series Balamory. She appeared in the series as a teenager, alongside her only sister, Heather.

Career

Diamond started her career as an alternative model posing for GodsGirls before branching out into different aspects of modeling such as model (art) & working as a Fetish model posing for photographers in Europe and the US. Her unique look attracted the attention of a wide variety of photographers.[8]

In 2009 she posed on the cover of Bizarre winning their first ever "Cover Girl Search" competition,[9] after which she was signed to London-based modeling agency Girl Management.

She also entered the adult film industry in 2009 and did her first scenes with Joanna Angel and James Deen for Burning Angel.[3]

In 2011 she posed in an editorial campaign for i-D magazine's "The Exhibitionist Issue No. 312" wearing Louis Vuitton and American Apparel.[10][11][12]

In 2012, Diamond posed for comic book artist David Mack, who portrayed her as Echo in the Marvel Comics miniseries End of Days.[13]

In 2013 she posed for photographer Terry Richardson.[14]

Diamond first dabbled in the music industry with her 2013 song/music video, "Sex in a Slaughter House".[15] which she wrote as part of a scene for Brazzers.

In 2014, Diamond was on CNBC's list of "The Dirty Dozen: Porn's Most Popular Stars".[16] Diamond also starred (with Allie Haze) in the music video for American hip hop recording artist B.o.B, for his song "John Doe", which features Priscilla Renea.[17][18]

Diamond was the Penthouse Pet of the Month for July 2014.[19] That same year, she made her directorial debut with the film Skin Diamond's Dollhouse for Deviant Entertainment.[19]

In 2015 Diamond was named Penthouse Penthouse Pet of the Year Runner-up.[20]

In 2016 Diamond performed in her last adult x-rated scenes to pursue mainstream acting and singing full-time after she was cast in the role of Dylan Quinn in the Showtime series Submission.[21]

It was also during this time period that she launched her music project with the release of her first official single and music video ("Fire" produced by Ben Cole) under her real name, "Raylin Joy".[22][23]

Personal life

Diamond has several tattoos, including a Phoenix on her back, which she got to cover an accidental burn.[2] She also has two piercings in her navel, and one in her right nostril.[24] She is also well known for her distinctive shaved-on-one-side haircut; because of this, she has been featured in the column "Beauty Showdown" in the magazine Cosmopolitan.[25] When she first entered the adult film industry, her hair was pink.[3]

Diamond identifies as bisexual.[6]
