}}Slovenia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö, Sweden. The Slovenian entry was selected through an internal selection, organised by the Slovenian broadcaster Radiotelevizija Slovenija (RTVSLO). Hannah represented Slovenia with the song "Straight Into Love", which failed to qualify from the first semi-final of the contest, placing 16th and scoring 8 points.[1][2][2]

Internal Selection

On 15 December 2012, RTVSLO officially confirmed that the country would participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 after speculation that a withdrawal was being considered.[3]

On 23 January 2013, RTVSLO announced that it would opt for an internal artist and song selection instead of a national final due to time constraints and reduced funding.[4]

On 1 February, Hannah Mancini was internally selected to represent Slovenia with five composers submitting potential entries.[5] On 14 February, "Straight Into Love", with lyrics and music by Mancini, was presented as the Slovenian song during a press conference at RTVSLO studios.[6]

At Eurovision

Slovenia was allocated to compete in the first semi-final on 14 May for a place in the final on 18 May.[7] In the first semifinal, the producers of the show decided that Slovenia would perform 3rd, following Estonia and preceding Croatia.[8] On stage, Hannah was joined by backing singers Linda Andrews from the Faroe Islands and Susanne Ørum from Denmark, and three dancers from the Maestro Dance Studio: Anže Škrube, Primož Pavlič and Matic Zadravec.[9][10]

Slovenia failed to qualify from the first semi-final of the competition, placing last (16th) and scoring 8 points.[1][2]

In Slovenia, the semi-finals were broadcast on RTV SLO2 and the final was broadcast on RTV SLO1, with commentary for all shows provided by Andrej Hofer.[11]

The national jury that provided 50% of the Slovenian vote in the first semi-final and the final consisted of: Dušan Hren (director), Urša Vlašič (composer), Darja Švajger (singer — represented Slovenia in 1995 and 1999), Raay (producer/singer) and Katja Koren (singer).[12] The Slovenian spokesperson in the grand final was Andrea F.[13]
